The not standing @ Tictac week will focus on the different dimensions of partnering.
Starting with a series of specific unconventional stretches we will grow into the complexity of touch/dealing with another body (starting by manipulating ‘inert’, ‘half-inert’ and wired bodies…). Different hand- and wrist grips will be explored, as these are often the first points of contact.
We will propose very specific situations, where we aim to derive principles rather than forms. The classes alters between practice and repertory of not standing, first-time-tested-material for future creations, borrowed exercises (from e.g Steve Paxton and Fighting Monkey Practice) and Alexander’s interwoven background in martial arts (Judo, Brazilian juijitsu, Tai Ki Kong), yoga and acrobatics.
We believe no interaction with another body takes place without understanding, reflecting upon, predicting, improvising and more. We propose to get deeper into this, subconsciously aiming to tackle the concept of partnering from a different angle.
